The Political Action Committee will work to ensure voter empowerment through providing awareness, training, and programmatic support to promote registration, education, administration, and election participation.
The NAACP PAC will work to empower African-Americans and people of color by increasing awareness and participation in the electoral process.
The PAC will support the NAACP’s mission to eliminate race-based discrimination, and other biases, that lend themselves political solutions.
With the approval of the President and the branch, the committee will focus on the following initiatives:
- Building an effective voter turn-out system that is operative in all elections big or
- Hosting voter education forums addressing Monroe, West Monroe and Ouachita Parish, State and National issues
- Issue focused political action notifications through social media usage
- Facilitating meetings with elected officials
- Get Out The Vote (GOTV), voter registration and poll transportation
- Partnering with local and national civic organizations to address pertinent issues • Informing the electorate of candidate views and performance to hold elected officials accountable.
- Publishing data that informs voters of pros and cons of ballot initiatives.
- Publishing a “What the NAACP” wants booklet that targets the needs of the African-American community as represented by its Standing Committees.
- Arranging for NAACP observers to attend local city and parish meetings of governments, boards, economic development districts and provide written reports on the Branch’s website.
